Dr. Amara Okafor

Dr. Amara Okafor is a lead cybersecurity instructor at GICCT with eighteen years of experience in offensive security and incident response. Before joining the institute she served as a security architect at Fortune 100 companies, where she built and led red teams that tested the defences of some of the world’s most heavily targeted organisations.

Background and expertise

Her specialisations span advanced penetration testing, digital forensics, and incident response. Over her career she has led investigations into major breaches, designed adversary-simulation programs, and advised executive teams on managing security risk at scale. She holds the CISSP and OSCP certifications and continues to practise as an active security consultant alongside her teaching.

Teaching approach

Dr. Okafor is known for a hands-on, scenario-driven teaching style that puts students in the position of both attacker and defender. Rather than teaching tools in isolation, she frames every technique within the real engagements where it matters, so students leave able to apply their skills under genuine conditions. She leads GICCT’s flagship Advanced Penetration Testing program and contributes to the Incident Response and Digital Forensics tracks.
